A psychiatrist is a medical doctor specializing in mental health, licensed to prescribe medication and offer a comprehensive approach with therapy.

A psychotherapist, not a medical doctor, holds a psychology or counseling degree, providing therapy without prescribing medication. The difference is in medication authority. Psychiatrists can prescribe, while psychotherapists focus on therapy. Choose based on your needs and preferences.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato are both treatments for depression, but they differ significantly:

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain associated with mood regulation. TMS is administered through a coil placed on the scalp, creating magnetic pulses, and is typically done in a clinical setting.

Spravato (Esketamine) is a medication that is administered as a nasal spray and works on the brain’s glutamate system to alleviate depression symptoms. Spravato is self-administered as a nasal spray but is supervised in clinic.

MD TruCare offers a 10-minute grace period for appointments. If you anticipate that you won’t be able to arrive within that timeframe, please don’t hesitate to contact our office, and we will do our best to assist you. We encourage our patient 15 minutes early for smooth check in. Please plan your trip.
MD TruCare and its providers no longer refill prescriptions directly from pharmacy. You are responsible for scheduling a follow-up with your provider before any prescription runs out. All refills and changes in medications are done during an office visit. We only provide treatment and medication management during an appointment. Missing appointments can disrupt your care and lead to a relapse. If for any reason you need a temporary emergency prescription refilled outside of your appointment time, there will be a $20 charge and it is discretion of our provider to honor such request.
If you need to cancel an appointment, a 24-business hour notice is required. If you miss or cancel an appointment without a 24-business hour notice, you will be charged $75 for the missed appointment. Missed appointments CANNOT be filed with insurance. Therefore, you are solely responsible for this fee. After 3 missed appointments, we will no longer provide services unless all missed appointments are paid in full.
To check your insurance coverage for mental health services, contact your insurance provider. Ask about mental health coverage, in-network providers, costs, and limits. Request written confirmation for reference.
Consult a mental health professional for a personalized treatment plan. Recovery from mental illness varies; medication isn’t always required. Some recover with therapy, lifestyle changes, support, and self-help strategies. Medication is just one treatment option.
A comprehensive mental health approach often involves therapy in consultation with a mental health professional. Medication may be chosen as the primary treatment due to various reasons. However, it’s important to note that medication alone may not address all aspects of mental health. Combining therapy and medication, when appropriate, can offer a more holistic approach to mental well-being.
