Smitha is currently completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Psychiatry at the University of Alabama. She is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and improving the outcomes for children, adolescents, and adults.
With a background as a Psychiatric RN and a Math and Science teacher, Smitha brings patients, empathy, and a unique perspective to her work. She has used this not just with young people, but also while supporting adults across the lifespan. She looks forward to continuing her work in outpatient psychiatry.
Outside of her career, Smitha enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking, and spending time with her husband and two sons.
